A large fan is mounted to the ceiling of a factory. It’s turned off and perfectly still. An engineer climbs up and places a ping pong ball on top of one of the blades. Then she turns on the fan remotely. The ball does not fall. Why not?

I don’t disagree with the explanation except for the part where the ball stays on the blade in the first place. Because ceiling fan blades are angled, the ball should roll off immediately before the fan is ever turned on.
Richard D beat me to that point. I cannot recall ever seeing a ceiling fan with flat blades.
