Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirements
Continuing Education or PDH is known as CPD in New Mexico

Here is a summary of the engineering continuing education requirements mandated by the New Mexico State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors.

New Mexico Engineers PE PDH

Hours Required

30 hours biennially

Renewal Dates

December 31 of even-numbered years for engineers with license numbers ending with an even number.

December 31 of odd-numbered years for engineers with license numbers ending with an odd number.

Board Approval

The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board’s requirements.

Approved Content

Must have a clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee relevant to the practice of engineering. At least 2 PDH must be earned in ethics.

Approved Activities

Online courses that require the engineer pass a quiz to receive credit can be used to earn all required hours. NoonPi’s courses meet this requirement.

PDH Carryover

A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period. No ethics courses can be carried forward into the next renewal period; however, ethics credits in excess of 2 per renewal cycle can be used to fulfill the general continuing education requirement.

Notes

  1. For dual licensees, the number of PDH remains 30 biennially; however, half of the required credits must pertain to each profession.
  2. PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 3 years.
