Finding PDH course topics that interest you year after year can be a struggle. It’s best to find a PDH provider that has a breadth of courses that can meet your needs now and in the future.

NoonPi has a huge course library – the largest by far among the three (3) lowest priced PDH providers that offer Unlimited PDH packages. And NoonPi’s courses contain original material authored by more than eighty (80) experienced Subject Matter Experts. Many PDH websites offer “courses” that are nothing more than a PDF of a government pamphlet, study, or report that is available freely in the public domain.

A cautionary note about PDH websites that have very few course authors: The NCEES Model Rules and all the state boards’ rules have language requiring a course instructor (author) to be qualified in the subject matter being taught. Some PDH providers have hundreds of public domain “courses” covering multiple engineering disciplines, but only a handful of course authors. You have to wonder how it is possible for one engineer to be qualified to teach other engineers in so many subject areas.

Much like NoonPi, PDHengineer’s course library also has good filtering and sorting capabilities. PDHDirect, EZ PDH, and PDHonline courses, on the other hand, can only be searched by subject area, which makes it more difficult the find the courses you need.

Course Previews

The ability to preview the course prior to purchase is helpful when trying to decide whether to purchase a particular course. EZ PDH allows you to view the entire course prior to purchase. PDHdirect does not include previews of their courses. Because NoonPi, PDHengineer, and PDHonline use original copyrighted content, each site places some restrictions on course previews. With PDHonline, you must first create an account and log in prior to seeing a course preview. NoonPi and PDHengineer provide a preview of a portion of the course without the need to login. NoonPi vs PDHdirect

PDHdirect’s course library, authored by just a handful of course authors, is much smaller than NoonPi’s library and primarily contains public domain documents, not original course content. PDHdirect’s course library cannot be filtered or sorted, and courses don’t have any customer reviews or ratings.

PDHdirect’s 1-year unlimited PDH package is $199 and includes courses only. NoonPi has a lower price and larger course selection than PDHdirect.

NoonPi vs EZ PDH

EZ PDH has a much smaller course library than NoonPi with no filter or sorting capability. Their courses are mostly public domain documents and they have no customer ratings or reviews. They have email and phone support, but no chat support. And keep in mind your board’s language requiring course authors to be qualified in the subject matter being taught. EZ PDH’s entire library is authored by only three course authors.

EZ PDH has a 1-year unlimited PDH package (courses only) for $119 vs NoonPi’s plan for $149/year. However, if you wish to include webinars, the price increases to $249. NoonPi, by comparison, provides webinars for free.

NoonPi vs PDHengineer

PDHengineer has a larger course library than NoonPi with more course authors. PDHengineer’s courses use original content and courses have both ratings and reviews. Much like NoonPi, the library can be filtered and sorted by sub-areas, course title, number of PDH, and course rating. PDHengineer has email, phone, and chat support.

PDHengineer does not provide an unlimited PDH package. Packages available include $349 for 15 PDH and $649 for 30 PDH. By comparison, earning 15 PDH using NoonPi’s Gold package costs $149.

NoonPi vs PDHonline

PDHonline has the largest library and the most course authors of any of the PDH providers listed. Their courses contain original content, but there are no course ratings or reviews. There is no ability to filter by sub-area or any other criteria. There is no phone or chat support shown on their website—only email support.

PDHonline is the most expensive PDH provider in the list. They don’t provide an unlimited PDH package. Packages available include $399 for 15 PDH and $690 for 30 PDH. NoonPi is $250 less if you need 15 PDH and $541 less if you need 30 PDH.

NoonPi is the obvious choice when you consider the price, the size of the course library, the quality of the courses, the customer support options and the onsite tools that help you quickly find the courses you need. A Note About Webinars

Most engineers that earn PDH online do so by completing online courses. Thus, the focus of this NoonPi vs Others comparison has been on online courses. However, live webinars are accepted for PDH credit in all states. And all the PDH providers reviewed here offer webinars. The selection and pricing of webinars vary by provider. In some cases, webinars are included in a provider’s package along with online courses. In other cases, a separate higher-priced package must be purchased to gain access to webinars.
