This course reviews Indiana Code Title 25, Article 31, governing the registration and practice of professional engineering in Indiana. It begins with statutory definitions of professional engineers, engineering interns, the practice of engineering, and approved engineering curricula. The course then examines the composition, duties, authority, meetings, records, and enforcement responsibilities of the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Participants review the education, experience, application, reference, examination, and certification requirements for professional engineers and engineering interns, along with provisions governing fees, renewal, reinstatement, continuing education, and inactive certificates.

The course also addresses the legal significance of a professional engineer’s seal and the responsibilities assumed when engineering documents are signed and sealed. Additional topics include corporate engineering practice, requirements for public projects, exemptions from registration, reciprocity, hearings, judicial review, and duplicate certificates. The concluding sections cover prohibited practices, criminal violations, injunctions, enforcement authority, use of the investigative fund, restrictions on the use of the title “engineer,” and notice requirements following disciplinary actions.
