In Basics of Water Treatment (Video on Demand), you'll learn ...
- Water chemistry as it relates to water treatment
- Reaction kinetics, water quality, and water quality standards
- The concepts of coagulation/flocculation, water softening process, sedimentation, filtrations, and adsorption
- How to understand the design of unit processes for water treatment
Overview
In this course, we will lay a foundational knowledge by defining several terms related to water chemistry, including standard units and their uses, reaction kinetics, water quality, and water quality standards. A treatment system flow-diagram will be explained, offering a visualization of the workings of a water treatment plant.
We will then analyze the fundamentals of unit processes design, including sedimentation tank, coagulation/flocculation dose, and softening dose, and work through several problems together to practice the application of these terms.
Armed with this knowledge, several water plant waste management problems will be solved using common equations and standard practice, placing the information into real-world applications, and offering a solid understanding of the material.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The applications of water chemistry to modern water treatment
- Industry standards for water quality and water treatment
- The basic functions of a treatment system-flow diagram
- Unit processes design and how to solve various relevant issues
- How to solve several water plant waste management problems using industry-standard equations
Video on Demand
This course is a recorded version of a live lecture and will be streamed directly to your computer's media player. Our format is generally compatible with media players included with all computers and mobile devices. After watching the video presentation, you will return to your account to take the online quiz. While this is a recording of a live presentation, please note that this recording will not qualify as a "live" or "interactive" continuing education activity in those jurisdictions where it is required.
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 10 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
