Workplace safety can be improved when engineers, supervisors and employees participate in the development of safe procedures in any operations, maintenance and construction activities. A Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) is a technique that focuses on the hazards inherent in some job tasks, before the job begins. The goal is to identify risks sooner rather than after-the-fact.

Development of a JHA is a multi-step process that breaks down any job into a series of tasks. The hazards associated with each task can then be identified and mitigated. The JHA is both a process and a product.

Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Identify potential job hazards in the workplace or construction site and reduce risk to acceptable levels
  • Understand the desired order of precedence for effective hazard control
  • Review examples of suggested methods for hazard control in each area of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls
  • Includes a useful format for preparing a JHA document/report

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 15 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
