In An Introduction to Project Management for Engineers, you'll learn ...
- The basics of Project Management and the structure of a project
- The three key elements of a successful project
- A brief history of successful projects, as well as what can cause a project to fail
- A brief outline of project management certification
Overview
The role that project management plays is often misunderstood. Understanding the role that project managers play will be beneficial to any engineer, and by attending this one-hour webinar, you will gain a stronger grasp of the overall project process. We will provide a description of traditional project management, as detailed in the Project Management Institute PMBOK® Sixth Edition (2017), also known as the Project Management Body of Knowledge. We will define a project and project management, as well as identify the role that a project manager plays. Multiple examples of successful historical examples of Project Management will be reviewed to emphasize the key points that will be presented.
Additionally, different elements of project structure will be identified, such as knowledge areas and process groups. The development of a project management plan, the three key elements of project management, and the significance of these elements will be covered. We will briefly look at why projects fail, and how you can safeguard your projects. Finally, we will close with a summary of PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification.
