- How to use Truth Tables and Min Term Maps
- Digital logic gates, Amplifiers, Inverters, Exor, and Exnor gates
Overview
Digital computers have taken over a lot of our lives in the last 40 or 50 years. I think that it would be a good idea if people, including engineers, had more of an idea of the circuits that actually make computers work. All of the logic in computers is done with simple circuits called gates. All of the logic is also done using Boolean Algebra which has only 0’s and 1’s as the numbers that are used.
This course provides a very simple and easy way to look at the basic circuits that are used in most of our digital devices. The digital operations are done very quickly because the circuits work so quickly. This is just a start on digital circuits and the way that they work. Implementing these basic logic gates to actually make a computer do something is a whole other world.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The definition and application of a digital bit
- Conversion between digital systems and analog systems
- How to use Truth Tables and Min Term Maps
- Digital logic gates, Amplifiers, Inverters, Exor, and Exnor gates
- The meanings of And, Or, Nand, and Nor as they relate to digital circuits
- DeMorgan’s Theorems, Boolean Algebra, and Venn diagrams, and how these concepts apply to digital circuits
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 15 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
