Work zone traffic control is an important function affecting the safety of motorists, pedestrians and work zone personnel. Every effort should be made to eliminate or reduce accidents within work zones. In addition to safety, the potential delay to the public caused by traffic interruptions during construction should be reduced when possible.

In this course, you’ll learn Maintenance of Traffic Planning principles. You’ll learn the fundamental principles of work zone traffic control, including the five basic requirements for a traffic control device to be effective. You’ll learn human factor principles for work zones. And you’ll learn the purpose and components of a Transportation Management Plan (TMP)
