Many businesses transport or use hazardous chemicals which can potentially come into contact with employees. Chemical exposure can cause health problems and some chemicals are safety hazards with the potential to cause fires, explosions or other serious accidents. Employers have a legal responsibility to communicate to employees the chemical hazards present in their work areas and to provide training on mitigating risks associated with chemical hazards.

This course covers the OSHA requirements for evaluating chemical hazards and transmitting the hazard information down the line starting with chemical manufacturers / importers down to employees of companies that use the chemicals.

This course is relevant to engineers, managers, foreman and any other personnel working in industries that require the manufacture, transportation, storage and/or use of chemicals.

Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • The definition of hazard communication and why it is important
  • The requirements of chemical manufacturers, employers and employees with regard to hazard communication
  • The requirements for chemical labeling, material safety data sheets, employee training and chemical trade secret disclosure

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 10 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
