Ralph Schwartzbeck, P.E., MS

Ralph Schwartzbeck, P.E., MS, is the owner and Chief Engineer of Highland Tems, LLC. With over 46 years of engineering experience, he has conducted numerous engineering designs and analyses, nuclear safety and operational assessments, and project management activities at more than 90% of the commercial nuclear plants in the United States. Mr. Schwartzbeck has held a variety of technical, managerial, and executive-level positions in the commercial nuclear industry, working with major nuclear engineering design firms and utilities. He currently provides engineering and operational design services while developing and delivering training for engineers in the U.S. nuclear industry.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Mr. Schwartzbeck served in the Navy Nuclear Program, where he qualified as a naval nuclear engineer and in submarines. After his Navy service, he transitioned to the commercial nuclear power industry, starting his career at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant. At Point Beach, he worked as an Instrument and Controls Engineer, qualified as a Senior Reactor Operator, and served as a Shift Technical Advisor. During this time, Mr. Schwartzbeck earned his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, with his thesis work on two-phase flow published in numerous industry journals and cited in a published monograph. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Georgia.
