Great introduction to microhydro electric generation. This course give the necessary fundamental calculations needed to assess (and design for) the general operation of a small-scale / personal hydroelectric system (100 kW or less; nominally, 1 kW to 10 kW) WITHOUT the need to dam waterways.
I found it interesting that the course material introduced an ancient method of determining elevation change using a BUNYIP (sp?) or water level. Water levels have been used for thousands of years and can be easily constructed using clear plastic tubing and two (2) yard/meter sticks - one on each end of the tubing. These devices are quick and easy to use and can determine elevation changes to within +/- 1/8 of an inch (or approximately +/- 3 mm) over a distance of 100 feet or more (approximately 30.5 m).

The course provided an interesting introduction to small scale hydro-electric projects.

OK I was hoping for more technical format

Liked course but would liked to see some rough dollar values for pieces of equipment
Keith Valiquette |
Disappointed that it was just an article

A good primer on micro hydro systems
Troy Winward |
Very basic information. Didn't take a lot from this course.
Gregory Rinaldi |
Helpful in developing a basic understanding of microhydroelectric systems
Brian Morgan |
Gives basic fundamentals which is perfect for a 1 credit course.

Would like to have seen a bit more on turbines but good coverage overall.
James Bluma |
an excellent presentation of a little known subject
Caleb Wright |
This is a good review of equipment not often seen today.

Course was okay but very basic. Note - I do not like the "Live Chat" pop up that is now part of your website. Annoying. - WEBMASTER NOTE: I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience of the Live Chat feature. A representative will be reaching out to you to see how we could improve the experience for all customers.

Interesting but old enough that it should be updated.

More useful and detailed information than I expected in a 1 PDH course. Very good!
