This course needs an rewrite and an update. The conclusion that R134A is the correct choice for refrigerant is no longer true in the United States due to EPA guidance. The author also appears to have an unfounded bias against R123. My experience is that the R123 machines never leak at all and can be as environmentally friendly as R134A machines.
Basic course and presentation is good, but needs an update and a little more impartiality.
Thanks,
WEBMASTER COMMENT: Thanks for your review. The SME has responded as follows: In North America, EPA has not put any restriction on the sale of HFC refrigerant R-134a although EPA credit is available for use of alternate refrigerant and it remain illegal to knowingly vent HFC substitutes during the maintenance, service, repair, or disposal of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment (i.e., appliances).
The European Union is the only market with a regulation to phase out R 134a starting January 2017.
I will keep a watch on the regulatory measure and update course if required.
